Empowering Philadelphia Communities

The People’s Garden is a place for neighbors of all ages to play, rest, grow and harvest fresh fruits and vegetables, organize, learn, and build community. The People’s Garden, now in its 5th growing season, was started in 2015 in conjunction with Serenity House and the local community. Gardeners work together to maintain the property, meet monthly for a garden council meeting, and learn new gardening and community building practices. Individuals and groups rent a raised bed for the growing season, while the communal bed is open for all people to harvest. Produce harvested from the communal bed is given out freely Thursday afternoons at Serenity House.
